Bishop’s Message

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

Greetings to you all in the name of Christ!

The passing away of our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis, on June 5, 2025, has deeply saddened all of us and every member of the Catholic Church. Pope Francis was a shepherd for the people, a spiritual father who led a holy, humble, and sincere life as the Bishop of Rome. He was a Pope who initiated the transformation of the Church into a synodal Church — one that listens and walks together. He was a voice for the poor, an advocate for the protection of the environment, and a faithful messenger of Christ’s love across all parts of the world. Pope Francis’s exemplary life and theological insights will forever remain a model for all of us.

Amidst this sorrowful moment, God has also given us a new ray of hope. On May 8, 2025, Cardinal Robert Prevost of America was elected as the new Holy Father. He becomes the first American Pope in the history of the Church and has taken the name Pope Leo XIV. The name “Leo” means lion, symbolizing courage and strength. By choosing this name, he aligns himself with the tradition of strong and great Popes in history, such as Pope Leo the Great. We believe that through him, God will bring new light to the Church.

Let us continue to pray for the soul of Pope Francis and for Pope Leo XIV as he begins his mission as the Shepherd of the Universal Church.
