Women’s Commission Leads Spiritual Renewal in Jubilee Year 2025

As part of the Synodal Jubilee Year 2025 celebrations, the Commission for Women of Gulbarga Deanery organized a one-day Women’s Retreat on 10 August 2025, aimed at the spiritual renewal and empowerment of women. Around 80 women from across the Deanery participated in this grace-filled gathering.

The retreat provided a meaningful opportunity for the women to unite in prayer, reflection, and fellowship in the presence of the Lord. Sr. Maria Reetha AC, Secretary of the Women’s Commission, Diocese of Gulbarga, extended a warm welcome to the participants.

The day commenced with Prayer and Praise before the Blessed Sacrament, led by Fr. Vincent Pereira, setting a prayerful tone for the program. This was followed by an enlightening session on “Women in the Bible” delivered by Fr. Gerald Sagar. At noon, participants enjoyed a brief refreshment break, maintaining a spirit of silence and reflection.

The second session, “Women in the Mission of the Church”, was conducted by Fr. Vincent Pereira, encouraging participants to embrace their role in the Church’s mission. A fellowship meal followed, fostering deeper bonds among the women.

In the afternoon, Fr. Gerald Sagar prepared the participants for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which was administered by the priests of the Deanery. Meanwhile, the choir, accompanied by the gentle music of Fr. Aron Vas, led hymns of adoration, enhancing the prayerful atmosphere.

The retreat concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration, with Fr. Stany Lobo as the principal celebrant, joined by four concelebrating priests. The women actively participated in the Mass, offering their wholehearted devotion.

Fr. Joseph Praveen, Dean of Gulbarga Deanery, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the retreat, commending the participants for their dedication and cooperation. Sr. Maria Reetha also thanked everyone who took responsibility for various arrangements—especially Fr. Praveen for his meticulous planning, generosity in providing the venue, meals, and facilities. She acknowledged the animators of the women’s cells and the priests of the Deanery for their encouragement and accompaniment, which enriched the participants’ spiritual experience.

The success of the Women’s Retreat was attributed to the prayerful support of the Bishop and the generous service of the priests and religious sisters.

The day was truly one of grace, unity, and renewal, deepening the faith of the women, inspiring them to live their mission in the Church, and strengthening their fellowship as a community of faith in the Gulbarga Deanery.
