The ICYM DEXCO elections for the Diocese of Gulbarga were held on 6th July 2025 at ORBIT, Humnabad. The event was marked by great enthusiasm, active participation, and a strong spirit of leadership formation. It brought together 45 youth and 8 animators from across the diocese, all committed to strengthening the mission of the Church through youth leadership.
The day began with a dynamic and engaging session led by Mrs. Veleena Gonsalves, the Regional Youth President, who served as the resource person. Through creative and interactive activities, she inspired the young participants to discover their leadership potential and understand their vital role in the life and mission of the Church. Her session set a positive and empowering tone for the rest of the day.
Following the formation session, the diocesan executive committee (DEXCO) elections were conducted in a democratic and participatory manner. The newly elected team includes: Praveen from Ujini as President, Tanisha from Jalasangi as Vice President, Deena from St. Joseph’s Church, Bidar, as Secretary, and Abhishek from Muchalamba as Joint Secretary. Anusha from Halbarga was elected Treasurer, Swati from Talmadagi as Liturgy Coordinator, Asha from Santhpur as Program Coordinator, and Dhananjay from Hulsur as Media Coordinator. Janet from Humnabad took charge as the YOUCAT Coordinator, while Yashwanth from Bhalki was elected as the Sports Coordinator. Veena from Sacred Heart Church, Bidar, and Sandeep from Kamalnagar were also chosen as committee members.
In his address to the youth, Bishop Robert Miranda encouraged them to be actively involved in their parishes and to become torchbearers of faith, service, and positive change. He later presided over the oath-taking ceremony, officially commissioning the new DEXCO members and blessing their journey ahead.
The entire program was skillfully coordinated by Fr. Sachin Christy, the Diocesan Youth Director, who ensured a smooth and meaningful experience for all the participants. The Diocese extends heartfelt thanks to all the youth directors and animators for their constant support and guidance. Special gratitude is extended to Fr. Victor for his generous hospitality and for making all the necessary arrangements at ORBIT.
As the new DEXCO team begins its term, may they be guided by the Holy Spirit in their service to the youth and in carrying forward the mission of ICYM in the Diocese of Gulbarga.
