Bhalki | 20 July 2025 — The Zonal Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Jubilee was meaningfully celebrated at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bhalki, on Sunday, 20th July 2025. The event began with a creative and prayerful presentation of the Word of God, setting a deeply reflective and spiritual tone for the day.
The highlight of the celebration was the Holy Eucharist, solemnly presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga. Over 350 faithful from Bhalki, Humnabad, and Basavakalyan zones participated with great devotion and enthusiasm, bearing witness to a vibrant and united Church.
Fr. Maxim Dias, Regional Secretary of the BEC Commission, was the guest speaker and shared valuable insights on how to strengthen and sustain vibrant BECs, emphasizing their importance in building a synodal Church grounded in communion, participation, and mission.
The celebration was further enriched with colorful cultural dances and a thematic skit, joyfully expressing the unity and diversity of the communities. It was a day marked by spiritual renewal, fellowship, and celebration. Fr. Santhosh Bapu, Vicar General, along with Fr. Clary D’Souza and Fr. David Antony, were also present and contributed to the significance of the event. The Zonal BEC Jubilee truly reflected the spirit of a listening and journeying Church, rooted in the Gospel and committed to grassroots evangelization through the BECs.
