The BalaJyothi Child Sponsorship Programme of the Diocese of Gulbarga joyfully organized a Christmas celebration for its beneficiaries on 13 December 2025 at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bhalki. The occasion also served as the annual get-together of BalaJyothi sponsorship students, bringing together around 350 children and animators from different mission areas of the diocese.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist, which was solemnly offered by the Bishop of Gulbarga. The Bishop also actively participated in the entire programme, sharing the joy and spirit of Christmas with the children. His presence was a great encouragement to the beneficiaries, who felt loved, valued, and supported on this special day. Following the Eucharistic celebration, the children presented a variety of innovative and vibrant cultural programmes, including songs, dances, skits, and Christmas-themed performances. These programmes reflected the talents, confidence, and creativity of the sponsored children and conveyed the true message of Christmas—love, joy, sharing, and hope.
A special moment of the celebration was when the children gathered around the Bishop for the Christmas cake-cutting ceremony. The Bishop, joined by the children, cut the cake amid joyful cheers, as the children warmly wished him on this festive occasion. The moment symbolized unity, family spirit, and the close bond between the Church and the BalaJyothi children. As part of the celebration, Christmas gifts were distributed to all the children, bringing smiles and excitement to their faces. The gesture emphasized the diocesan commitment to caring for the holistic development and happiness of every child.
The entire programme was beautifully organized by Fr. Vincent Thoras, Coordinator of the BalaJyothi Child Sponsorship Programme, along with his dedicated team. Their meticulous planning and coordination ensured a meaningful, joyful, and well-conducted celebration. The BalaJyothi Christmas celebration at Bhalki was truly a memorable and grace-filled event, strengthening the sense of belonging among the children and reaffirming the Diocese of Gulbarga’s mission to nurture hope, faith, and dignity in the lives of the young.
