Gulbarga Diocese Establishes Think Tank to Foster Faith and Leadership

Kalaburagi, Oct 11, 2025: The Diocese of Gulbarga inaugurated its new Think Tank Unit at Sugyan Pastoral Centre, Kalaburagi, with the aim of fostering collaboration among professionals and learners to strengthen the mission and administration of the Church.

The program began with a welcome address by Fr. Santhosh Bapu, followed by the presidential message from Bishop Robert Miranda, who emphasized the importance of collective thinking and the involvement of the laity in diocesan development. The Bishop introduced the day’s speakers — Fr. Sudeep Paul, Director of Sandesha Trust, Mangalore, and Mr. Roy Castelino, PRO of the Diocese of Mangalore and President of the Think Tank.

In his session, Fr. Sudeep Paul elaborated on the meaning and purpose of the Think Tank within the diocesan structure, highlighting that it serves as a forum for professionals and learners to contribute their insights for the holistic growth of the Church.

Mr. Roy Castelino, in his address, spoke on the immediate relevance of forming a Think Tank. He underlined the need to think rightly, educate on faith, law, health, and youth concerns, and promote peace and justice through collaboration. He also stressed empowering the laity and ensuring quality education for children to form responsible future leaders.

Around thirty participants from different parts of the diocese took part in the event. Following the sessions, participants were divided into four groups for focused discussions on pastoral priorities. Each group presented its reflections, offering practical ideas to strengthen diocesan initiatives.

The highlight of the event was the formal inauguration of the new Think Tank Unit in the Diocese of Gulbarga. After the inauguration, the office bearers were elected as follows:

  • President: Mr. Niel Santhosh (Gulbarga)

  • Vice President: Mr. Peter (Bijapur)

  • Secretary: Mrs. Anitha (Gulbarga)

  • Joint Secretary: Mr. Praveen Paul (Bidar)

The program concluded with a vote of thanks and a call to continue journeying together in faith and reflection for the growth of the diocesan community.
