An Inter-Religious Christmas and New Year Celebration was held at the Mother Teresa Community Hall, Kalaburagi, marking the closing of the Jubilee Year in the Gulbarga Deanery. The celebration was organised by the Inter Religious Forum for Peace and Harmony and brought together people of different faith traditions to promote peace, unity, and harmony.
On this occasion, Most Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga, delivered a meaningful Christmas message, highlighting that the birth of Jesus Christ conveys a universal message of love, hope, and reconciliation. He called upon people of all religions to work together in building a society rooted in mutual respect, compassion, and understanding.
The Bishop emphasized that in today’s world, often marked by division and conflict, celebrations like these remind us of the shared values that unite humanity. He urged everyone to rise above differences of religion, caste, and culture, and to become messengers of peace and goodwill in everyday life.
The programme specifically highlighted the importance of peace, unity, and harmony among people of different faiths, reaffirming the commitment of religious leaders and communities to coexistence and social harmony. The presence of leaders from various religious backgrounds on one platform stood as a powerful symbol of interfaith solidarity.
The event was efficiently organised and coordinated by Fr. Joseph Praveen, Parish Priest, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. Christmas carols, cultural presentations, and messages of goodwill added joy and meaning to the celebration.
The inter-religious gathering concluded with a renewed commitment to carry forward the spirit of the Jubilee Year by living the values of love, peace, and service, making Christmas and the New Year a true message of hope for all.
