Together with Mary: A Jubilee of Family Prayer

The Diocese of Gulbarga, in collaboration with the Holy Cross Family Ministry of the South Indian Province, celebrated the Family Jubilee 2025 with the theme “Together with Mary: Jubilee Rosary Day for Families” on 5 September 2025 at the Mother of Divine Grace Cathedral, Kalaburagi. The event was filled with prayer, joy, and a spirit of renewal, bringing together families to reflect on the role of faith, love, and prayer in their lives.

The celebration began with a graceful prayer dance performed by children, setting the tone for the day. The lighting of the lamp followed, symbolizing the presence of Christ, the light of the world, in every family gathered there. The event was blessed with the presence of several dignitaries, including Fr. Santhosh Bapu, the Vicar General, Fr. Vinay Kumar, Regional Secretary for Ecumenism and Liturgy, Fr. Ronald Fernandes, Director of Afzalpur Mission, and Fr. Johny, Director of Holy Cross Family Ministry, South Province. They were joined by Fr. Praveen Joseph, the Parish Priest of the Cathedral, Fr. Aron Vas, and lay collaborators Mrs. Viola Roy, Ms. Riyana, and Mr. Hanock, who were invited as guests of honor.

The highlight of the program was the input session by Fr. Vinay Kumar, who served as the resource person. He spoke passionately about the significance of the Jubilee for families, reminding everyone that it is a time of renewal, thanksgiving, and rediscovering God’s blessings in family life. He emphasized the sacredness of marriage as a lifelong covenant rooted in God’s love and explained how the family, as a domestic church, becomes a place of faith, prayer, and forgiveness. He highlighted the power of the Rosary as a weapon of peace and unity, encouraging families to make it a daily prayer. He also reflected on the importance of confession and forgiveness in family relationships, which help heal wounds and strengthen bonds.

The day’s celebration reached its peak with the Rosary rally. Holding candles in their hands and reciting the Rosary together, families walked in procession around the cathedral. The sight of parents, children, and elders praying side by side created a moving picture of unity, faith, and devotion under the maternal care of Mother Mary.

Around one hundred and fourty faithful participated in the celebration, each family experiencing the grace of renewal. For many, it was a moment to look back on their journey, seek forgiveness, and move forward with renewed hope and trust in God. The Family Jubilee 2025 became more than an event—it was a spiritual experience that reminded families of their vocation to live in love, prayer, and service, building strong homes that reflect Christ’s presence in the world.
