A Prayer Service was organized to pay tribute and pray for the departed soul of Fr Stan Swamy SJ at the Cathedral premises in Gulbarga at 6:30pm on 5th July 2021. Fr. Stan Swamy, 84 year old Jesuit priest and Tribal Rights activist, arrested in the Elgaar Parishad case under UAPA in October last by the National Investigation Agency breathed his last in the Holy Family hospital, Mumbai on Monday 5th July 2021 around 1.30 pm. Bail was denied to him several times even though he was suffering from several ailments. Yes, he died a martyr’s death. As a sign of respect and solidarity, the Bishop, priests, sisters, faithful and members of KUCF and Forum of Inter-religious dialogue joined together to pay homage to Fr Stan swami on this occasion at Mother of Divine Grace Cathedral, Kalaburagi.
