‘The congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany’ is completing 100 years walking in the footsteps of Jesus. It was founded on July 16, 1921, at Bendur, Mangalore by Rev Fr Raymond Francis Camillus (R F C) Mascarenhas, of the diocese of Mangalore. Bethany Sisters from then have grown immensely into a sturdy tree spreading its branches in 9 countries of 3 continents of Asia, Europe and Africa. In a picturesque view like Sahara desert in Africa, Vatican city in Rome, the mid-ranges of Himalayas and the shores of Kanyakumari, from the hills and plains of India.
The dedicated service of 1378 Bethany Sisters, in 26 states and 63 dioceses of India reach the people of the marginalized without disparity and reservations. The achievements in the past 100 years are phenomenal and made possible only by miracles. It’s now a continuing journey of joy in our Diocese of Gulbarga. They are in the mission places like Humnabad, Jalasangi, Chittapur, Hebbal and Gulbarga.
