Mission Orientation Held for New Priests and Sisters in Bidar Deanery

Bidar, June 26, 2025 – As part of its ongoing missionary formation initiatives, the Diocese of Gulbarga organized a Mission Orientation Program for newly arrived priests and religious in the Bidar Deanery. Continuing the tradition, this year’s session brought together 25 participants who have recently joined the diocese to begin their ministry.

The orientation was marked by a spirit of welcome and missionary zeal, reflective of the unique character of the Gulbarga Diocese, which is known for its rich potential for direct evangelization. As a missionary diocese, it stands apart from others, rooted in village ministry and embracing the cultural diversity and deep spiritual thirst of the region.

Most Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga, set the tone of the day with an inspiring session on mission dynamics, stressing the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and walking together in the spirit of a synodal Church. His words challenged the participants to live out their call with openness and shared responsibility.

Fr. Sagar, who has extensive experience in grassroots ministry, offered practical insights into the local culture, language, and customs—an essential component for effective evangelization in a land as diverse as Bidar.

Fr. Santhosh Bapu, shared the inspiring journey of the Diocese of Gulbarga, tracing its growth, missionary spirit, and pastoral priorities in the fields of education, social service, health care, and faith formation.

The orientation served as a platform for dialogue, learning, and building bonds among the new missionaries, preparing them to serve with greater understanding, unity, and enthusiasm.

Bidar Deanery, with its unique cultural landscape and thriving village ministry, continues to be a rich soil for evangelization and transformative missionary engagement. The diocese remains committed to equipping its workers to be effective instruments of Christ’s love and service.
