Diocese Launches Mission Inauguration and Orientation Programs Across Bidar, Gulbarga, and Bijapur Deaneries

Gulbarga, June 19, 2025 – In a spirit of renewed evangelization and synodal collaboration, the Diocese recently conducted a series of Mission Inauguration and Orientation Programs across the Bidar, Gulbarga, and Bijapur deaneries. These spiritually enriching gatherings brought together priests, religious, and lay leaders to reflect on the Church’s mission, strengthen pastoral strategies, and embrace the vision of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030: Building a Synodal Church.

Bidar Deanery Kicks Off with a Call to Synodality (June 7)

The inaugural program in Bidar Deanery witnessed the participation of around 80 clergy, religious, and mission collaborators. The day unfolded with profound reflections on the mission of Jesus and His identity, setting a contemplative tone for the year ahead.

The highlight of the event was the release of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030 by Bishop Robert Miranda, who emphasized the transformative power of a synodal Church—walking together in communion, participation, and mission. His address resonated deeply as he encouraged the faithful to embrace collaborative ministry, ensuring that the Gospel reaches every corner of society.

Gulbarga Deanery Inspires with a Spirit of Teamwork (June 8)

The following day, Gulbarga Deanery gathered 60 priests and religious for a dynamic mission orientation. The program began with a warm welcome to newly assigned clergy and religious, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

Fr. John Sequeira OCD delivered an inspiring keynote, weaving Scripture and pastoral wisdom to reignite missionary zeal. The Diocesan Pastoral Plan (DPP) was unpacked, emphasizing practical steps for evangelization. In his concluding remarks, Bishop Robert Miranda made a heartfelt appeal: “Our mission thrives only when we work as one body—united in vision, diverse in gifts, but singular in purpose.” His words left a lasting impression, reinforcing the need for synodal cooperation in the Church’s mission.

Bijapur Deanery Concludes with Prayer and Renewal (June 15)

The final leg of the mission inauguration was held at St. Anne’s Church, Bijapur, on June 15. The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Robert Miranda, invoking divine grace upon the new missionary endeavors.

Fr. Sunil Fernandes SJ led the gathering in prayer, followed by an enlightening orientation talk by Fr. Anil Prasad (KRPPC Coordinator). His discourse on the mission mandate provided valuable pastoral insights, equipping attendees for effective evangelization.

A deeply moving Penitential Service—featuring Eucharistic Adoration and Confession—allowed participants to renew their spiritual commitment. Bishop Robert then addressed key diocesan priorities, offering strategic direction for the deanery’s mission. He also extended a warm welcome to new clergy and religious, encouraging them to integrate into the diocese’s vibrant apostolate.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Fr. Joseph Vas SJ, followed by a joyful fellowship meal, symbolizing the unity and fraternity that defines the diocese’s mission.

A Unified Vision for the Future

These mission inauguration programs have set a powerful foundation for the year ahead—reaffirming the diocese’s commitment to synodality, evangelization, and pastoral renewal. With the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030 as their roadmap, the faithful of Bidar, Gulbarga, and Bijapur are now more equipped than ever to proclaim the Gospel with renewed zeal and unity.

As Bishop Robert Miranda aptly summarized: “Our mission is not just a task—it is a sacred calling. Together, as a synodal Church, we shall bring Christ’s light to the world.”
