In a momentous celebration filled with grace and joy, the newly constructed Presbytery “Assisi Nivas” was solemnly inaugurated and blessed by His Excellency Bishop Robert Miranda on 1st June 2025 at Halbarga Mission. The auspicious occasion also marked the official transition of leadership as Rev. Fr. Sathish, OFM (Cap), assumed charge as the new Director of Halbarga Mission, succeeding Rev. Fr. Salvadore Fernandes, who handed over his responsibilities after his dedicated service.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Fr. Santhosh Bapu, Vicar General, along with devoted sisters and faithful from the mission. The ceremony commenced with a prayerful inauguration led by Fr. Santhosh Bapu, followed by the blessing of Assisi Nivas by Bishop Robert Miranda, who invoked God’s abundant grace upon the new presbytery and all who would reside and serve within its walls.
In his address, Bishop Robert expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Salvadore Fernandes for his unwavering commitment to the mission and extended warm wishes to Fr. Sathish as he embarked on his new role. He emphasized the significance of the presbytery as a spiritual home for pastoral workers and a beacon of hope for the community. Fr. Sathish, in his maiden speech, humbly accepted the responsibility entrusted to him and sought the prayers and support of the faithful. He thanked Fr. Salvadore for his exemplary leadership and assured his commitment to carrying forward the mission’s vision with zeal and dedication.
The ceremony concluded with a felicitation program, where the sisters and parishioners conveyed their appreciation through hymns and cultural expressions. A festive fellowship meal followed, symbolizing unity and joy among the gathered faithful.
