On March 23, 2025, the vibrant spirit of faith and unity echoed through St. Mary’s Church, Mother Theresa Hall, as 90 women from across Gulbarga Deanery gathered for a momentous Jubilee Celebration. Themed “Women in the Pilgrimage of Hope,” the event was a powerful testament to the role of women in the family, Church, and society.
The day commenced with a Prayer song from wadi women, followed Welcome dance by Gulbarga women and a creative inauguration. Most Rev. Bishop Robert Miranda, in his inaugural address, beautifully articulated the purpose of the women’s convention. Adding to the jubilee spirit, the women of Chittapur Parish brought the theme to life through expressive actions for the Jubilee Song.
The speaker for the day, Sr. Simprosa BS, captivated the audience with her profound insights on the “Role of women” in shaping families, strengthening the Church, and uplifting society.
The highlight of the day was the Eucharistic Celebration which began with an inspiring introduction —a dramatic portrayal of Eve in the Garden, the Angel appearing to Mother Mary, and the Disciples with Jesus. The entrance procession, led by women holding lights with deep devotion symbolized their journey of faith and empowerment.
Presided over by the Bishop of Gulbarga Diocese, along with Vicar General Rev. Fr. Stany and Fr. Praveen, the Dean, the solemn Mass was a spiritual experience. During his homily, the Bishop reminded everyone that Men and Women are not perfect, but a Compassionate God understands our struggles and calls us to transform our families, the Church, and society. The Bethany Sisters and Fr. Vincent Pereira enriched the Eucharist with their melodious choir.
After the Mass, the women gathered for a fellowship meal followed by action songs to keep the energy high. Mrs. Irene Nazareth shared her life journey emphasizing how Catholic faith and values, with the Bible as her foundation, shaped her life.
The celebration continued with a skit on the Visitation by Shahabad Parish women and a joyful dance performance by the Women of Sedam Parish. The winners of the Rangoli and Devotional Songs Competitions were honored, adding to the spirit of joy and achievement.
In his final address, Bishop Robert Miranda expressed his hope that this convention would ignite a renewed spiritual zeal among women, inspiring them to serve families, the Church, and the suffering mankind. He extended his gratitude to Sr. Maria Reetha, the Diocesan secretary for women commission, Sr. Daisy, Ms. Yashodha, and all animators and coordinators for their dedication in organizing this grand event.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mrs. Yashodha. Compering the event by Mrs. Sumalatha. This event, leaving every participant with a deep sense of joy, unity, and empowerment. Sr. Maria Reetha thanked everyone who worked behind the curtain.
