Jubilee Celebration of Women in Gulbarga Diocese: A Day of Joy, Celebration, and Empowerment

On March 16, 2025, around 450 women from Bidar Deanery gathered at St. Joseph’s School Hall in faith and unity to celebrate the Jubilee Year under the theme Women in the Pilgrimage of Hope.

The event began with a prayer led by Fr. Clary D’Souza, welcome note by Mrs. Jancy followed by an innovative inauguration. In his inaugural address, Most Rev. Bishop Robert Miranda emphasized the purpose of the women’s convention. Sr. Christina SCB, the speaker for the day, highlighted the Role of Women in the Family, Church, and Society. A video presentation showcased the activities of the Women’s Commission across different centers.

The Eucharist celebration led procession women holding lights with deep devotion, symbolizing the journey of women towards faith. Mass was presided over by the Bishop of Gulbarga Diocese, along with the Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo, and other priests. In his homily, the Bishop inspired the women, emphasizing their power to transform families, the Church, and society. Abraham hoped in God and trusted in His covenant, believing that God fulfills His promises. His faith is a powerful example for us all. St. Paul urges communities to imitate him, and the Gospel calls us to listen to Jesus’ words. This message invites us to true transformation, where our faith in Christ shapes our families and lives.
After the Mass, participants enjoyed a meal, followed by action songs led by Srs. Maria Reetha & Lenet. Dr.Joyce and Mrs. Savitha shared their personal life experiences, illustrating how they became beacons of hope despite life’s challenges.

The women enthusiastically presented a cultural program featuring,
A welcome dance, skit on the Visitation, Jubilee song, Kolatam, folk dance, and a street play on Naomi & Ruth.
Winners of the Bible and Bhajan competitions were also awarded.
In his closing address, the Bishop expressed deep appreciation for Sr. Maria Reetha and the animators women cell, acknowledging their hard work in organizing the event. He encouraged women to embrace growth and move beyond old ways.

The event concluded with joy and unity, marking a memorable Jubilee of Faith, Unity, and Empowerment for the women of Bidar Deanery, Gulbarga Diocese.
