Bhalki Jathrotsava 2019, the Annual Feast of Infant Jesus celebrated at Bhalki, on 8-10 November 2019 was indeed a memorable event. Jathra celebration began with the Benediction followed by procession around Bhalki city on 8th November at 4.00 pm. During the procession, the priests delivered a brief message of the Gospel in three different places in the Bhalki town Circles. Faithful flocked to the Shrine and participated in the Eucharist, Word of God, Adoration, Confessions and sought ‘Darshan’ of Infant Jesus. Various competitions such as, Bhajan, Bible Patana, Elocution, Dance, Skit competitions were held on the open stage for the youth and children, and students who scored well in education were honoured. Special Award was also given to two eminent people: Mr. Shambulinga Valdoddi and Mr. Varghese (Postumus) who served and excelled in the service of the people at Bidar and Gulbarga. Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Ballary celebrated the festive Eucharist on the concluding day and preached an inspiring homily. Bishop Robert Miranda concluded the Jathra Ustava with the benediction and lowering the Jathra flag. Shree Shree Basavalinga Pattadevaru, Shri Prakash Khandre, Ex MLA, Shree Ishwar Khandre MLA were some of the dignitaries whose message and presence made the event even more solemn. Rev. Clary D’Souza organised the whole event with a Team of priests, sisters and lay volunteers. It was indeed a great faith celebration that united the faithful of the entire diocese.
