On 10 August 2022, at 10.30 am, the Funeral Ceremony of Fr Benjamin D’souza took place in Christ the King Church, Kayyar. Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore, celebrated the Holy Eucharist, and Most Rev Dr Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga preached the homily emphasizing the Qualities of Jesus the high priest that Fr Benjamin exhibited. The final rites were conducted by both bishops in the church cemetery. A good number of priests from the Diocese of Gulbarga attended the funeral service and participated in the tribute offered to Fr Benjamin by the Bishop and his priests. Diocese of Gulbarga mourns at this moment because with the great zeal of witnessing Christ among the less-privileged people of Bidar, He came to Bhalki in June 1983 and again in 2009-17. As director of Satyanubhava Inter-Religious Dialogue Centre Basavakalyana, Bidar dedicated his five years of service (2019-2014) to promoting dialogue, understanding, and cooperation among religions. By organizing unique programs under Inter-Religious Dialogue, he tried to bring unity, peace, development, and happiness among people of all faith.
