International Women’s Day celebration

Santhpur: International women’s day celebration on 21.3.2022 at Dupath Mahagaon Church. It was a well-organized program, both by Euphrasie Nilaya Convent and by the youth. The theme of the program was ” Gender equality today for a better tomorrow .After the inaugural speech by PSI Tana Kushnoor Mrs. Renuka the two courageous women spoke about the importance of the day. They also stressed the importance of educating girl children, caring for them, and putting an end to child marriage child labor etc. 2020 – 2021 SSLC topper Ms. Sudha Rani was honored. Lucky woman of the day was honored with a prize. Around 300 participants came from 5 villages.

Humnabad: The celebration of International Women’s Day took place at ORBIT on 23 March 2022. Most Rev Dr. Robert Miranda; Bishop of Gulbarga, Sr Reena D’Souza, Coordinator of labor commission, Gulbarga, Sri Rajshekar Patil, Dr. Pradeed Kumar, Mrs. Prema R, Mrs. Vidyavati Patil, Mrs. Mahalaxmi A Patil, and other guests were on the dais. All spoke about the significant role of women in society as well as the challenges women face everywhere. Fr Victor Vas, Director of ORBIT organized the event beautifully. All the SHG women of Humnabad participated and benefited from the celebration.

Hulsoor: Hulsoor Center, consisting of 5 villages, organized Women’s Day on 13 March 2022. Mr & Mrs. Devendrappa; the professor,  Rajeshwari; the advocate from Basavakalyan. Fr. Sunil  Mankare; parish priest,  Mrs. Putalibai the Gram Panchayat member, Sr. Geetha the in charge of the women’s cell was present. 52 women participated in this cultural program organized by children from Hulsoor parish and boarding school. All of the heroes were joyful, colorful, and excited.

 Cathedral Church: The Divine Grace Women’s Association of Cathedral Parish celebrated International Women’s Day on 6th March with Holy Eucharist, representing Mother Mary as their model. ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ highlighted the outstanding contributions of women around the world and invited everyone to get involved in a life of dignity. The nurses who have worked tirelessly and become covid warriors during this pandemic are honored on this day.

Carmel Jamgi Colony: International Women’s Day celebration held on 6th March 2022 at Jamgi Colony. Fr. Wilson Fernandes the Parish Priest and Mangala Bhagawat were the Chief Guests. The programme began with a prayer followed by songs, skits, games and food without fire.

Sr. Prathima spoke on Leadership that women can take at home, in Sangas and in the Society. Mrs Mangala very nicely presented to them the life of women with low cost celebrations so that they could be without debt. Sri Raju appreciated the selfless services of the women in their homes and society. Fr. Wilson spoke about the various roles women take on and encouraged women to never lose sight of their motherhood. Ninety five women participated actively in the celebration.

Celebration of Women’s Day in the District Prison, Women’s section: The Chief Superintendent gave permission to celebrate International Women’s Day in the prison. There were 15 women. The inmates welcomed the Sisters warmly and expressed their joy of seeing Sister Christine after 2 years. The programme began with a short prayer service followed by a session by Sister Lucy on Leadership. The Sisters conducted two games which enthused them a lot. Sarees were given as prizes for the winners.
