The faithful of Ujini joyfully celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Christ the King Church on February 16, 2025, marking 25 years of faith, service, and community building. The grand celebration began with a solemn procession of the Jubilee Cross around the village, led by Fr. Albert Crasta, the first Director of Ujini Mission. The event was graced by the presence of the Bishop of Gulbarga, numerous priests, religious leaders, and a large gathering of the faithful.
During the procession, the Bishop emphasized the importance of unity among people of different religions, highlighting that Christ is the ultimate source of solidarity and harmony. Following the procession, a solemn Jubilee Mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Gulbarga, concelebrated by all the priests who had served in the mission over the years. The Bishop, in his homily, reflected on the biblical significance of the Jubilee, reminding the congregation that God Himself invites us to celebrate this milestone by showing mercy and compassion to our neighbors.
A vibrant stage program followed the Eucharistic celebration, featuring cultural performances by the children and youth of Ujini. The event was further enriched by the presence of various religious leaders who shared inspiring messages on unity, peace, and devotion to God. The event’s highlight was the participation of 15 different Bhajan groups in a spirited competition. The Methodist Church, Lingadalli, secured the first place, showcasing their devotion through soulful melodies.
A special moment of honor was dedicated to Fr. Sunil Andrade, who was felicitated by the Bishop, faithful, relatives, and religious leaders for his tireless efforts in strengthening the people’s faith and his remarkable contributions to social service. His dedication to the mission was recognized with deep appreciation and gratitude.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Fr. Christopher presented a documentary film depicting the 25-year historical journey of the Ujini Mission. The documentary beautifully captured the growth, struggles, and triumphs of the mission, leaving the audience with a profound sense of gratitude and inspiration.
