The Diocese of Gulbarga organized the second Jubilee Year 2025 program, the Youth Convention, at St. Joseph’s PU College, Bidar, near Shahapur Gate, from January 24-26, 2025. Centered on the theme “Bharavaseya Yathrikaru – Namma Yuvajanaru” (Pilgrims of Hope – Our Youths), the three-day event drew enthusiastic participation from young people across the diocese. The convention was inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga, the Vicar General, Youth Director Fr. Sachin, Sr. Leena Bennies BS, a lady animator, and youth representatives. The inauguration included lighting candles representing the youth’s core values, symbolizing their journey of faith and hope. Addressing the gathering, Bishop Robert Miranda encouraged the youth to rise above challenges, emphasizing the unique opportunities the Diocese of Gulbarga provided to nurture their growth and potential.
The program featured an inspiring testimony by Mr. Colin Calvinio, who shared his life experiences and motivated the youth to trust in the Word of God and maintain hope amidst life’s struggles. This was followed by group discussions where participants identified their challenges, explored solutions, and reflected on ways to overcome obstacles. A plenary session highlighted the stories of three individuals who shared their journeys of perseverance and success despite hardships, inspiring the audience to remain resilient and hopeful. Representatives from eight youth groups presented the problems and solutions discussed during their group activities. The Youth Director, Bishop, and other resource persons addressed their concerns, offering practical guidance and encouraging them to actively participate in church activities and foster a prayerful life at home.
The convention also provided opportunities for spiritual nourishment through moments of Eucharistic Adoration, preparation for the Sacrament of Confession, and the celebration of the sacrament itself. Participants bonded during the Agape meal and campfire, fostering fellowship and a sense of unity. The event concluded on Sunday, January 26, with a Solemn Eucharistic Celebration, marking the culmination of a faith-filled and transformative experience for the 228 young participants.
The Youth Convention 2025 demonstrated the Diocese of Gulbarga’s unwavering commitment to empowering its youth through faith, community, and opportunities for holistic growth. Bishop Robert Miranda’s message resonated deeply with the participants, reminding them that they are pilgrims of hope and vital contributors to the Church and society. The diocese expressed its gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of this memorable event.
